Measures approximately 10” wide, 7” tall, 4” deep In early times candles were made of tallow (Tallow is simply beef or sheep fat that has been rendered (cooked down) to remove impurities. The candles easily went moldy, so these boxes hung close to the fireplace and were filled with bran that kept the candles dry and mold free.
