Description: Wonderful 19th century possibly English or French Treen Snuff Box with silver metal end caps that have scroll work details. The box is in an oval cylindrical form and made of a hard wood with a rich reddish tone and patina. There is a metal bar hinge and a carved folate/scroll/bird detail on the cover. The lid opens freely and stays shut when closed. Measures approx. 3.75"l x 2"w x 1"deep. There are surface scratches and light tarnish, there is some blistering of the shellac on the carver cover detail. No makers mark observed. A beautiful collectible snuff box!
