Description: Antique Victorian 14k Gold Taille D'Epargne Shield Hand Engraved Pendant Brooch Click images to enlarge Description Offered here is a true antique Victorian mid-1800s 14k gold shield-shaped pendant / brooch, with amazing detail. This piece has the hook-shaped hidden bail, which would have allowed a women's pocket watch to hang from the hook. It also is perfect to slide a chain through, as I've shown in the photos, to be worn as a pendant. CHAIN IN PHOTOS IS NOT INCLUDED. Please look at all of the photos carefully to appreciate the fine detailing. It is done in actually three "layers". The base is all hand-engraved, with taille d'epargne black enameling around the outside which is almost perfect. One tiny speck of enamel is missing on the bottom right side (so easy to touch up!) Otherwise it's all intact. The second layer is raised, and looks like a fancy quatrefoil or cross. The third layer is basically the centerpiece, with a beautiful flower and leaf enameled design. I can't imagine what a steady hand it took to add enamel to a design that small!! The only part that may be a replacement is the pin stem and lock. This antique shield pendant / pin measures 1 1/4" north to south, by 1 1/8" east to west. It tests strongly positive for 14k gold (might be 15K).
