Description: Antique silver plated, Victor Silver Co repousse box with working hinge and brass clasp. Decided to leave the patina as is on this piece because the dark aesthetic is pleasing to the eye. The piece is antique dating back from the late 1800's. It was probably meant for soap, but it can be used to hold matches, cigarettes, or tissues. Can be used as decor or can be used on the go. The VICTOR SILVER CO. Hallmark is located on the back hinge with an extra added B stamp on it, which begs the question, was this a custom order or was its original destination meant for one of the outlet stores (see last photo on Company history). Even though these products were "more economical" and "mass produced" the every day toiletry items are HTF because they got lost, and put to solid use. Made in Derby, CT , USA.
