Description: Here is a very hard to come by item! This is a Victorian Era pocket diary/calendar. It is made out of mother of pearl and has what is ivory or slate inserts for the writing surface. This item was small enough to fit in a pocket or handbag of the Victorian era folks. This particular item does not have a clasp and it does not have any markings to indicate there was a clasp. It has four inserts and there are faintly embossed days of the week on the ends of the inserts. There is Mon-Thursday. Maybe they were using the four day work week model? Ha-ha! I’m not sure if there ever was a 5th insert or not. Most I have seen only have four. This is a very intriguing piece of history! I’m sure these were small enough and most didn’t know what these were and they were discarded or lost. This will show appropriate wear for something this age and was used daily. The luster is beautiful on the M.O.P. *easel not included with this sale. This item is sold as is/as found. Please view all photos and ask questions if you need more information. Thanks for looking!
