Description: This offering is for an antique pair of women's faux suede and rubber boots. The boots feature a faux suede upper trimmed in fur and the soles are made of an early rubber. The lace up fronts have 6 sets of eyelets and a high top. The shoes are marked on the sole as a size 5½ and interior sole length is app. 9.25" maximum which would make them about a size 7 to 7.5 of usable length. The overall exterior length from tip of toe to end of heel of app. 9.5". The shoes have a maximum width across the ball of the foot of app. 3.25". The height is app. 8.25". The shoes are also maker marked on the soles "COLCHESTER RUBBER CO" around their crown trademark. The company was founded in 1888 in Colchester Connecticut and was bought out by the United States Rubber Co in 1892 so they were made during a very short period of only 4 years. Of a very interesting and unusual design they include a buckled leather strap on the inside to allow for tight fitting to the ladies foot. The condition is as seen in our photo's both above and below. The interiors and exteriors are excellent showing only minor signs of wear, however, there are a couple of cracks in the rubber soles and some very minor wear on the suede at the heels. The soles show only very very light wear as is typical but not to bad considering you can still read the makers stampings.
