Description: 1935-1941 Leeds and Northrop Electronics engineering, design and demonstration books belonging to Clark Nichols an electronics engineer credited with designing the one of the first known operational electronic industrial Computers known as “The Early Bird” which as I understand it was used to monitor and control the output of hydroelectric power. Included in this grouping are 4 handwritten notebooks with a large number of original blueprints, correspondence, and photographs of technology he designed. This is a rare and one of a kind collection by one of the pioneer designers of both electronic power plants and supply as well as industrially used computer technology. In addition to working on some of the first industrial computers, Nichols worked at the Oak Ridge Facility, working on the early Atomic Bomb in the Manhattan Project alongside Oppenheimer and others. We have not researched all the designs blueprints and notes in this massive collection, and are not electrical engineers ourselves so we are not certain what diagrams are included in this archive all we know is Nichols did important and revolutionary work in his field during this time. This collection was acquired out of a Searsport Maine estate, the town where Nichols retired too prior to his passing. All of our antique and vintage items are sold as found as is with no returns. Please ask questions prior to bidding and I will do my best to help you.
