Description: Rare enamel on copper bowl by important Norway designer Arne Tjomsland (1917-1970) in mint condition. Tjomsland was best know for his figures of Vikings, Eskimos and Scandinavian animals in teak and whale ivory, but turned to enamels near the end of his life. This piece, which depicts 2 ladybugs on a green ground which covers the hammered surface decorated with a subtle incised abstract geometric design. It measures 4 7/8" across (12.5cm). A product of his own workshop circa 1968-70, it bears his stamped signature on the base. Tjomsland received a silver medal at the 1960 Milan Triennale & the Bavarian State Government's gold medal (1957).
