Art Deco Sapphire Diamond Ring

Description: Art Deco Sapphire Diamond Ring. Utterly breathtaking original Art Deco natural, earth-mined sapphire and diamond ring. The sapphire is 4.5 mm wide and the sapphire with the diamonds is 9 mm wide. The ten fiery, white diamonds are set in platinum. When you look inside the ring you can see it was hallmarked twice. The first time it was hallmarked with 18 ct and PLA (the T for platinum has worn away over time). The ring was tested again at the London Assay Office in 1935 (shown by the Leopard’s Head Mark and the date letter which is U) as being just below the 18 ct gold value. As the new 14 ct gold measure was brought in 1932, the assay office would have no other alternative than to put 14 ct gold. The gold has a higher ct than that although not quite 18 ct. There is a natural inclusion in the sapphire that is only visible with magnification. Personally I think inclusions add to the charm of the sapphire and also attest to the fact that it is a natural sapphire as the fake gemstones have no inclusions and do look fake. The sapphire is raised above the diamonds making the ring truly spectacular. Would make a lovely engagement ring, right hand ring, or addition to any fine antique jewelry collection.
