Description: For sale is this preowned signed and retired Artesania Rinconada "Creators" Shih Tzu with silver and gold accents, no original box. This figurine was part of a collection from an elderly collector who travelled the world and picked up many items during her journeys. I have never seen another one like this and can't find a listing for this, but I reached out to someone who is an authority on these figurines, and the bottom markings show that it is authentic. The figurines with the "Creators" seal aR and jjC (twin brothers Javier and Jesus Carbajales is part of the last collection made by Carbajal's sons in the JJC studio. Not mass produced; just a few sold in the USA and Japan. The name Artesania Rinconada is a Spanish phrase meaning “Art of the Corner” or “corner art”. Internationally known for its unique personality, character, and originality, the Artesania Rinconada Collection is truly one of the finest examples of contemporary ceramic design. No longer produced, these ceramic figures are becoming sought after as collectible art. Artesania Rinconada figurines were carefully hand-carved and detailed in fine grain earthenware ceramic material. After initial kiln firing, decoration continued with the hand application of colored slips and enamel glazes used to accent and highlight individual design characteristics. Each enamel glaze must be re-fired individually in order to preserve its distinctive coloration. Handmade in Uruguay. This figure has a beige matte body with white, gold and silver accents, with the special "Creators" imprint with signatures JJC in script and aR. There is a small rub mark on the left hind gold accent - I took a special picture of that spot. Please look at all of the pictures for style and condition.
