Unfortunately, this beautiful blue color tends to fade once the shell is removed from the ocean, gradually turning into a pale blue or white. In some cases, cooked operculum may even take on a light pink hue. This shell comes from an old collection, which means its color has stabilized and won't fade any further. People often tend to over-clean shells of this species. Fortunately, this shell has not been over-cleaned; it has only been hand-washed with clean water, allowing you to see it in its most authentic form.
