Description: This beautiful fossil is unique. The white “veins” in the pictures are created when roots come into contact with the fossil while still underground. The roots secrete small amounts of acid that etch the white lines on the fossil . These lines are more common on sharks teeth but I’ve never seen them this good on fossilized bone. This piece is just about 7” X 3” and 3/4” thick. This fossil would make a great display piece. Could be from a Mammoth, Mastodon, Giant Ground Sloth, or a variety of mammals that roamed Florida millions of years ago. All my Fossils are personal finds from west central Florida. This fossil was found in Northeast Manatee County in 2019. This fossil is between 3 and 10 Million years old. Please see my other items. Over 60 fossils listed. What is Bone Valley? Bone Valley is a geologic formation in west central Florida. Fossils from this area are well known for their unique tan-brown colors and are often very well preserved due to sediment they are encased in. Not all fossils from Bone Valley are tan-brown. I’ve found a variety of colors including pure white, black, grey, tan , brown, and some with blue hues.
