Description: VINTAGE AVIATION POSTCARD British European Airways VISCOUNTTurbo-Prop Aeroplane This vintage aviation postcard is a black and white postcard of British European Airways VISCOUNT "Discovery Class" Aeroplane. This was the world's first turbo-prop airliner with 47 passengers, five crew and four Rolls Royce Dart propeller-turbines. Cruising speed was 291 mph.This airplane was designed and built by Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd. The Vickers Viscount was a British medium-range turboprop airliner first flown on July 16,1948. A design requirement from the Brabazon Committee, it entered service in 1953 and was retired in January 2009. Postcard is in very good used condition and was never written on or posted.
