Description: Boeing, FLYING FORTRESS, Known as the B-17. This aircraft was developed in the early 1930's, and went into massive production from 1936 until 1945. A total of 12,731 were produced. Production ended at the end of WWII. Of the total number manufactured, only 49 survive today, and of those 49 only 10 are capable of flight. The very last B-17 (used as a military aircraft) was retired in 1968 by the Brazillian Airforce. Let me simply say that this artwork is in excellent conditon. The art itself is in A+ conditon. I would rate the frame a 9 of 10 in terms of conditon. It is really quite excellent, and the frame, matting, and the photographic art itself perfectly compliment each other. The glass front has protected this artwork perfectly. At the time of shipping, I will replace the glass front with an acrylic art glass front (Plexiglass). Plexiglass is nearly shatterproof and will assure a safe delivery. Of those, 43,000 were lost during the war, 23,000 in actual combat (making almost equal those shot down and those lost to accidents). Of that number of aircraft lost, 4,750 are counted among the B-17, Flying Fortress. Shipping: I will package this artwork with great care for shipping.
