Description: BARBARA "BARBRA" JOAN STREISAND was born to Jewish parents in New York City, NY on 4-24-1942. Both of her parents worked at the high school (mother-secretary, father-teacher). Her father died at age 34 just after her 1st birthday. This put the family in near-poverty. BARBARA changed her name to BARBRA attended a Jewish Orthodox school and was considered to be bright and inquisitive, but lacked discipline. She was moved to a public school. Her 1st big break came in 4-1961 when she was on the "Tonight Show" with Jack Parr, and the rest is history. BARBRA has recorded over 50 albums, is and big-time dog owner with multiple dogs and breeds. BARBRA loved one of her dogs so much that she had her 'cloned'. BARBRA has won every great award in the entertainment business: ie, Emmy, Grammy, Oscar & Tony. She was married to actor James Brolin on 7-1-1998.
