Description: Exquisite torchon photo frame in Murano blown glass and brass frame, handmade in Italy around the 1950s and attributable in terms of design and materials to the historic glassmaker company Barovier&Toso, founded in 1295 in Venice. The frame features the torchon technique, a method requiring high skill on the part of master glassmakers, in which molten glass is twisted and manipulated to create intricate, textured patterns. In this piece, the torchon technique is employed with refined elegance, producing a sophisticated ribbed texture that dances around the brass edges. The glass is very thick, dark amber in color and embellished with inclusions of gold dust, thus creating a play of light and shadow that enhances the depth and charm of the frame. The heavy glass frame is held in place by a sturdy solid brass frame. The whole thing is completed by the internal brass frame, the glass plate to protect the internal photo and the wooden back plate, with latches, to close everything. The original tissue paper inside is still present. La cornice mostra la tecnica del torchon, un metodo che richiede un'elevata abilità da parte dei maestri vetrai, in cui il vetro fuso viene attorcigliato e manipolato per creare motivi intricati e strutturati. In questo pezzo, la tecnica del torchon è impiegata con una raffinata eleganza, producendo una sofisticata texture a coste che danza intorno ai bordi in ottone. Il vetro è molto spesso, di colore ambra scuro ed impreziosito da inclusioni di polvere d'oro, creando così un gioco di luci e ombre che esalta la profondità e il fascino della cornice. La pesante cornice in vetro è tenuta in posizione da un robusto telaio in ottone massiccio.
