Manilow cut his teeth on live performances—he was Bette Midler’s band leader before he and former pop star/producer Ron Dante turned him into a star in his own right. Manilow also wrote the theme to American Bandstand and a LOT of 1970’s commercials—the subject of his A Very Strange Medley (V.S.M.) on this album. It’s a medley of the commercials he played a part in—many still recognizable after al these years. Arranged by the legendary Arif Martin among others!
