Description: B&Co Bernardaud Limoges 2 Candle Stick Holders Hand Painted Roses Gold 1900-1914 Elegant Decorative Set of 2 CANDLE STICK HOLDERS 6 5/8" Tall from B&Co (Bernardaud & Company), Limoges, France, PINK CABBAGE ROSES w/ GREEN Leaves, circa 1900-1914 DESCRIPTION: This beautiful set of 2 tall candle stick holders has an intricate garland of pink double roses climbing the square column. The background washes vary from green to blue to yellow. There are even greyish blue ghost leaves to give depth to the design. The square tops of the candle sticks are painted gold. CONDITION: While this set is classified as used, the condition is superb. We find no nicks, chips, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the colors and no crazing. There is minor gold wear to the top of one of the candlesticks. Look in photo #7 to see this. DIMENSIONS: The each candle stick has a top square of 1 5/8" with a base square of 3 1/8". The height is 6 5/8". The hole for the candle depth 1” and the candle diameter is 7 /8”. HISTORY/MARKS: Remy Delinieres and P. Guery established a pottery in the 1860’s in Limoges, France. Delinieres became head of the company after 1879 and established a porcelain decorating shop in 1881 as part of the factory. In 1900, the company becomes Leon Bernardaud & Co. Leon & his father had worked for Delinieres and eventually purchased the company. Leon Bernardaud’s family continued his company which is still in operation. The B&Co (Bernardaud & Company) mark on this is the green underglaze white ware mark #1 used 1900-1914 as cited in Mary Frank Gaston's Collector’s Encyclopedia of Limoges Porcelain, 3rd edition.
