Description: This is an old used wood and bronze ships wheel. It measures 42+1/2 inches diameter or wide and tall. The hub is 2+3/8 inches thick and is for a 1+1/4 inch diameter shaft. It has 2 wood inlaid rings, 1 each side, that are inlaid into the darker wood. This wheel is in excellent condition. WWII Liberty or Victory ship, interior bridge mounted steering wheel.The teeth on one side were for engaging and disengaging the wheel to ship steering above to the ‘Monkey Bridge’ or flying bridge. These were made for WWII Maritime Administration Ships, C-1 through C-5 variants. It would be perfect for decor or that new boat build or for your restoration project you're working on!
