Description: Maker: This pretty plate is by the legendary French faience company Sarreguemines, which has been producing beautiful ceramics since 1790. Its long and colorful history ended in 2007 when the company was forced into liquidation. Age and marks: On the reverse of the plate is a black underglaze backstamp with the pattern name and the attribution to Sarreguemines. This mark was in use from 1875 to 1900. The number M58 and the letter F are impressed the reverse. Design: The striking pattern - called Neva - features bold blue flowers and green leaves on an earthenware plate trimmed in blue and rust. Size: The plate is 9 inches wide and 1 1/2 inches deep. It weighs 14 ounces. Condition: It has no marks, nicks, scratches or cracks. There are 2 small chips on the edge and a discolored spot near the center - these are shown in the photos with the penny - and a lightly stained area on the reverse. Nonetheless, this plate remains a very beautiful object that would complement any collection of fine china. Please check all the photos very carefully - they are an important part of the description.
