Description: This is a custom figure of the most notorious gangsters in history, Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel (February 28, 1906-June 20,1947). Siegel was the primary driving force behind the development of the Las Vegas Strip back in the early to mid-1940's. Siegel was a petty criminal when he made the friendship of a couple of other petty criminals, Charles "Lucky" Luciano and Meyer Lansky. Luciano is considered the father of modern organized crime in the United States. Luciano was born in Sicily on 11-24-1897. His family migrated to the United States in 1906 when Luciano was 9 years old. At age 14 Luciano dropped out of school and earned $7.00 a week at a job delivering hats. He won over $200.00 in a dice game and decided to quit his job so he could make his living off the streets. Soon Luciano started his own gang and was a member of the Five Points gang. Eventually Luciano would meet Meyer Lansky and Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel. The three young men were partners from that point on. Bootlegging, gambling, protection, and prostitution were the main businesses the new partnership made money at. Luciano was the front man while Lansky was behind the scenes. Siegel was the muscle. Lansky was instrumental in Luciano's rise to power throughout his criminal career. It was Lansky and Luciano that are given credit for establishing the National Crime Syndicate. This commission became sort of the governing body for organized crime over the years. Another entity formed after the Syndicate was Murder Inc. which primarily answered to the National Crime Syndicate. Murder Inc. was run by Meyer Lansky and Bugsy Siegel. The group hired hit men that received a salary or retainer and were paid $1,000.00 - $5,000.00 per job. The group sometimes took care of witnesses to crimes or individuals that ran afoul of the National Crime Syndicate. The most well-known victim of Murder Inc was mobster Dutch Schultz. Schultz defied the Syndicate in his decision to assassinate special prosecutor Thomas Dewey. Bugsy Siegel was the first "celebrity gangster". He liked attention and being seen, which wasn't popular with members of the National Crime Syndicate. Siegel was shot dead on June 20th, 1947 at the home of his girl friend Virginia Hill in Beverly Hills California. Please note that while this figure does not look exactly like Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel there is a bit of a resemblance. sold as is. This figure would make a nice addition to any collection. This figure was done mainly for display. PLEASE NOTE- this figure is not quite as articulate as some of my figures but displays well. stand included. Please note the following-when a figure is a custom figure that means it is not a licensed product, or "official" but something the customizer did by combining figures and accessories from different makers and toy releases to come up with the custom figure or figures. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked in to the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own. Because I needed to support my new hobby, I started selling some custom figures. My prices reflect my acquisition cost, time involved, and some profit. Thanks for the look, have fun shopping!
