Initially a painter, he quickly became interested in tapestry. He collaborates with the TABARD workshops in Aubusson, then continues his development in Bayeux. He illustrated numerous books before finally devoting himself to his true passion, monumental sculpture. Many galleries devoted personal exhibitions to him between 1959 and 1996.Also working for international commissions, Michel BERARD systematically achieved great success and praise from the press during his exhibitions in Montreal (1969), Stockholm (1975), Düsseldorf (1973) and Madrid (1992).
