Description: Italian Painters of the Renaissance with 400 Illustrations written by Bernard Berenson, Phaidon Publishers, Inc. Garden City Books, N.Y. Dated 1953. Berenson was a man who some have called the greatest art critic since Ruskin. The book is a classic on the Italian Painters of the Renaissance period. Berenson discusses the great painters from Cimabue to Tiepolo. The book is also said "not to contain one dull sentence". The 400 illustrations in color and black and white are indispensable to art lovers, just stunning. Many of the color plates are simply set on the page with one original thin line of perfectly laid glue across the top. His essays and descriptions are a realm of artistic pleasure. 488 pages...Hard cover with dust jacket. The book is heavy...and hard to put down after opening .. as it is a feast for your eyes. An education on an artistic period in history that is second to none. Condition is good to very good. Dust jacket has several tears, but even torn the cover remains beautiful. Very heavy attractive cloth hard cover is in very good condition with no wear. Inside looks clean and clear..I saw a bit of foxing on a couple blank pages. I could find no, tears, soil or damage to the book other than what I have listed above. If you love art..this book may take one breath away..
