This material is a Premium Plastic Scintillator Material, tested and guaranteed to work for gamma radiation detection when coupled to a PMT and built into a probe. I often sell these for building your own scintillator detector or use as a direct replacement of damaged sodium iodide scintillators. NaI(Tl) is nice while it lasts, but these plastic scintillators will last indefinitely and are much less expensive. Excellent for use in contamination survey and count rate applications, but not meant for gamma spectroscopy. Please don’t forget to check my other listings, as I carry many different diameters and lengths that fit right on popular sized PMTs often used in scintillation detectors or available for purchase separately. I also custom cut and polish to request, please inquire if you have needs for a custom size or finish. Cutting and polishing of scintillator plastic can be difficult and costly without proper know-how and equipment. Unless you’re going to build dozens of detector probes, buying a round precut piece from me is much cheaper (and easier) than trying cut, shape and polish it yourself.
