Description: This is a custom 12" figure lot of 3 of my favorite fictional western TV characters, Heath, Nick, and Jarrod Barkley from the tv series Big Valley. Big Valley ran on ABC from September 15, 1965 to May 19, 1969. The series Big Valley was based on the fictional Barkley family who owned the prosperous Barkley Ranch (cattle and mining) in Stockton, CA. The series was set in the years 1884-1888. The Barkley's are some of the wealthiest ranch owners in the area. The series starts about six years after the death of patriarch Thomas Barkley. Victoria Barkley (played by Barbara Stanwyck), has taken over the ranch aided by spirited daughter Audra (played by Linda Evans), hot tempered son Nick (played by Peter Breck), and lawyer son Jarrod (played by Richard Long). The first season also had a younger Barkley brother Eugene (played by Charles Briles). He appeared the first season in eight episodes but was later written out of the show as going away to medical school. A common theme throughout the series, is the moral character of the deceased successful rancher, Thomas Barkley. The first episode kicks that theme off with the appearance of illegitimate son Heath Barkley (played by Lee Majors) showing up at the Barkley Ranch to claim his inheritance and share in the family business. Once the rough spots are ironed out, the Barkleys accept Heath as one of their own. Despite the question of Tom Barkley's character, the Barkley family are leading citizens, well respected, always on the side of right, and willing to help those less fortunate. Big Valley had some great stories with interesting characters showing up at the ranch. This was one of the coolest shows on tv when it was on. you can sometimes find this series on dvd or channels that run old westerns or tv series. PLEASE NOTE- While this figure lot does not look exactly like the characters or the actors, there is a bit of a resemblance. This figure lot is made for display and not play for the old west / western tv fan. The lot displays well. stands included. I started customizing figures a few years back because I couldn't find more than a handful of "official" releases and unable to find figures of people I wanted to collect. I checked into the market of custom figures. Most of the custom figures available back then cost several hundred dollars, so, I started doing my own.
