This lovely Sculpture is Signed and Dated..."Bill Lett 1978". Measures 6 1/2" wide 4 1/2" deep and 9 1/2" tall. A superbly created piece of Art by a well known American Studio Artist. From the web: About Bill Lett:Soaring eagles, leaping dancers, running buffaloes, galloping horses and playing cats are but a few of Bill Lett's attempts of sculptural expression. He has been experimenting with all types of art sense childhood. Fabricating metals fascinated him after taking relates art classes at the University of Tennessee. He discovered that the techniques used in making utilitarian objects could be used in sculpture. He began cutting, twisting, bending, hammering and brazing different kinds of materials to create sculpture. All pieces are not made in the same way. Bill received rather wide publicity for his experimental art work while serving in the U.S. Army in South Korea in the 1950's. He taught art in the former Knoxville City Schools for years and tried to ignite that creative inter spark with his students. While he was teaching, he became very heavy producer of metal sculpture. He joined the Southern Highland Craft Guild and participated in many of their shows, shops and sponsored activities in the Asheville, NC, Gatlinburg, and Knoxville TN area. Although Bill is best known for metal sculpture, he has experimented in a wide range of materials. The work is all one of a kind. The metals are not cast and he doesn't sell prints. The work is not made just to sell, but to express an idea about a mood or subject. He feels the pleasure is in the process of creating, and considers it a plus if other enjoys his efforts. All of our items are being sold in the condition we found them in, with minor flaws because they are either a semi-Antique or Antique and may need slight restoration to bring them back to showroom condition. We well everything bought from estates directly to you. We reiterate that each item we sell is used, and by definition has various blemishes. Most items have the dust of age and could use a cleaning.
