Description: The Famous Gothic Architecture of Notre Dame Cathedral My late Grandfather Ernist photographed Notre Dame Cathedral in the late 1940’s on a visit to Paris France with his wife, my grandfather loved photography and developed and printed his prints in his darkroom. Notre Dame Cathedral was built back in the 12th century in Paris France, by the Seine River and a world-famous gothic cathedral with its flying buttresses, rose windows, pointed arches, and ribbed vaults, Paris or “City of the Lights”, it got its name from all the city lights that shone brightly in the night. The first stone was laid by Pope Alexander III in 1163. And was completed in 1345. The French Gothic Architecture was seen throughout Europe, as example of the brilliant craftmanship of its time. The fire of Notre Dame Cathedral on April 15th, 2019, when a fire broke out in the attic, with confusion where the fire and slow response caused much damage with restoration of $865 Million and reopening in 2024. About Maurise de Sully Maurise grew up in France in city of Orleans. He was born in 1110 in Troyes, and moved to Paris in 1140, studied religion, regarded a well-versed professor of theology and preacher. His influence of King Louis VII, elected to succeed Peter Lombard as Bishop of Paris by the king, a French noble. He was one of the most influential of his time. He started the construction of Notre Dame Cathedral in 1163, completed in 1260.
