Description: This is an original stoneware tile made by Swedish artist Borje Skohg (1923-2006). He was one of Sweden’s leading ceramic artist of the 20th century. This stoneware tile measures 8 1/2“ x 14 inches and features soldiers, marching in an abstract form and design. This is indicative of his style of work and art. The mixture of metallic silver paste, is decorated by hand on the plaque. The style is almost brutalist in design with its sharpness, but also is probably considered abstract modern. The back of plaque is signed with his signature, Mark of Gustavberg Skohg. Label in far left corner, says Gustav, Berg, Sweden, and at far top right shows auction gallery when purchased. He is highly collectible and is shown in fine art museums in Sweden. At times has come up for auction in auction houses as suggested above. This stoneware tile is in very good condition. There are no cracks or chips considering the age. It’s very good and intact. Museum quality.
