Description: ' The Broadway Bellhops was a studio band that was assembled for recordings. The recordings were recorded from 1926 until 1928 on the Harmony label. This label was a budget label from Columbia that sold for $.50 cents at the time. We are treated to some great jazz performances by the top musicians of the period. Many of the discs feature inspired solos by Red Nichols (trumpet) and Miff Mole (trombone). The musicians for the sessions included: Red Nichols, Hymie Farberman, Chelsea Quealey and Bix Beiderbecke (2 tracks on Encore 3) on trumpet Miff Mole and Bill Rank on trombone Dick Johnson and Lucien Smith on clarinet, soprano sax and alto sax Bobby Davis on alto sax Frankie Trumbauer on C Melody sax Chuck Moller on clarinet and tenor sax Frank Signorelli on piano John Kelly or Tony Colucci on banjo John Tarto on tuba.
