Description: This is their first Flap. It depicts an Indian village on the shore of the Pacific in the early1800’s, a porpoise is jumping out of the water, a plank boat and an eclipse ofthe sun on the right hand side of the flap. There was a solar eclipse during the lodges first ordeal in 2012. In the early years of the lodge, an eclipsedsun was portrayed on some special patches, including the S1. It has a light blue rolled border. This is theoriginal general membership flap. I’m a former scout leader. I was a volunteer and involved with the Puvunga OA Lodge #32 when theyfirst started. Our lodge was new in2012. It was not the result of a merger,split or consolidation. Prior to 2012,the Long Beach Area Council did not have a lodge. On May 20, 2012 after the end of their firstordeal the new Arrowmen picked Puvunga as their Lodge name and the porpoise astheir totem. The Number assigned was 32. The Lodge name comes from the TongvaIndians indigenous to the Los Angeles area before the arrival of Europeans(1542). Puvunga meaning the “Gathering Place”, is the birthplace of the Tongvaprophet Chingishnish, and is believed by some Tongva to be the place ofcreation. The site, formerly home to a Tongva village is located on the groundsof California State University, Long Beach. A portion of Puvunga, a burialground on the western edge of the campus, is listed on the National Register ofHistoric Places. I was never much of a patch collector and I’ve decided toclear out most of my old scout stuff box. I’m selling 15 patches which I accumulated over the years, most of whichwere gifts for my service to the lodge. I’ve split these patches into 6 bundles. I’ve researched similar patches which are listed on eBay and I feel I’vepriced mine competitively. Most of thesepatches are considered rare and I hope they will add to your collection.
