How We Measure: Items are measured flat. Hip measurements are taken from the bottom of the fly. When we take the waist measurement we lie the item flat and align the waistband. When jeans/pants/shorts are laid flat the front half of the waist band almost always dips lower than the back half. If you don't align both halves, you'll get a shorter measurement than you are supposed to. Low rise jeans measure greater around the waistband of the jean than the waist measurement given on the tag reads because low rise jeans sit at the hips.
