Simply outstanding – for a discerning connoisseur. ________________________________________________________________________________ Presented here is a sophisticated ensemble of Bulova ‘Sea King’ watch, clamshell presentation box and cardboard outer, meant for a discerning connoisseur of vintage timepieces keen on proudly standing apart from the rest. Instead of following the masses and choosing an accessory for ‘this’ season, why not seek out a distinctive accoutrement that is sure to communicate the uniqueness of ‘you’ without even uttering a word. DETAILS: Case: ‘Sea King’ model. Sophisticated and very eye-catching. The bezel has an interesting yet subtle scalloped edge where it meets the crystal. Original and signed BULOVA on the back. The stainless steel bezel and case back have been cleaned & repolished and fitted with a new acrylic crystal. In general the case looks great with modest wear/scratches commensurate with the age of the watch. The case is NOT waterproof. Crown: Original, showing some wear. Dial: Immaculate, complementing the distinctiveness of the case the dial has been professionally refinished in a silver tone. The quarter hour positions are marked with double thickness rectangular batons whilst the remaining hour positions are slightly narrower markers of the same design. The ‘Bulova’ name, ‘Selfwinding’ and ‘swiss’ are in black. The hour positions along with the hands have been relumed and now glow well in the dark. There is a calendar date window at the 3 o’clock position. Hands: Hour, minute and sweep second hands are original, steel, ‘stick’ design. All in great condition. Movement: BULOVA Swiss manual & self-winding movement. This is a fine classic 11ALACD calibre with 17 jewels marked ‘M7’ for 1967. It is designed to prevent over-winding. The movement has been cleaned, oiled & adjusted, and at the time of listing is running well keeping good time ready to wear. As with all vintage watches regular servicing is recommended. Size: Round, measures approx. 33.44mm in diameter excluding the lugs and crown. Approx. 40.32mm lug to lug. Band: A new 18mm black leather band with silver tone buckle has been fitted complementing the timepiece perfectly. Box: This watch comes with its original clamshell presentation box, cardboard outer and tag. The outer box decoration shows an embossed background of ‘Bulova, Fifth Avenue, New York’ in a diagonal checkerboard pattern with the bold ‘Sea King’ logo by Bulova taking pride of place in the centre. The cardboard outer is showing age related wear, scuffs and scrapes. There is a worn are to the corner as shown in the photographs. The clamshell presentation plastic box is in excellent condition having been protected by the cardboard outer. The box has a dark navy blue coloured lid with its easily recognisable globe decal in white/gold tone bordered with two gold tone dolphins matching the outer. The base is white incorporating a raised, bold ‘Bulova’ name in gold tone on the opening lip to the box. The clamshell lid opens as it should to reveal the sumptuous interior lined with plush navy blue velvet matching the box lid. The underside of the lid is marked ‘Bulova’ in large gold tone letters, below this is the cream silk liner with ‘Sea King’ in navy blue emboldened text. This is showing some age-related mottling. The watch is mounted a blue velvet pad. Interestingly there is still the waterproof tag present being so wonderful to have survived the years together. Please note however the watch is not waterproof. ________________________________________________________________________________ General comments: This ensemble was an estate acquisition and a remarkable find. The Bulova ‘Sea King’ watch comes with it’s original presentation box and outer. This offering is certainly one for the collector. The watch is a delightful example of a Bulova ‘Sea King’ automatic from 1967 which has been restored to appeal once again. The repolished case, with eye-catching refinished silver tone dial make the watch highly attractive and very noticeable indeed.
