Make sure to check our other listings.* c 1880 Photo Album + (3) 1865 Related Civil War Papers 21st Regiment Connecticut Features: excellent family photo album featuring 48 photos (cdv’s, cabinet cards and tin types). Album comes with three 1865 civil war documents all for George E Wells who was in the 21st Regiment in Connecticut. Two of the documents are appointment documents (Sergeant & Corporal) and the other is the Discharge letter. Each appointment letter signed by Major William Spittle of the CT 21st Infantry. Also includes George E Wells’ pension from 1891 given by the Department of the Interior (see 5th photo). Pension document is signed by General John Willock Noble who was a U.S. lawyer and brevet brigadier general in the Civil War. He served as the Secretary of the Interior between 1889 and 1893. Accompanying the photo album are a couple of hand written documents with corresponding page numbers identifying some of the people in the album. Several of George E Wells kids and relatives are identified and present in the album. George Wells himself also presumed to be present, likely on page 2 or 4 as both men come right before two of his sons in the album and strike a resemblance. Most photos from Connecticut studios out of Middletown. Size: album approximately 11 3/4” x 9” Condition report: photo album itself in overall good condition. A few loose pages or broken page frames. Some of the photos with staining and wear. The 1865 documents all in excellent condition with only minor wear or off color. Crease marks on documents from folding.
