Description: c 1920 Brown-Westhead, Moore and Co (under their Cauldon Ltd brand) round milk jug and matching sugar bowl pattern #1972. Produced at the Cauldon Place works, Shelton (Hanley) Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire. Exquisitely decorated with small clover leaves on a hand painted cobalt blue band, with very fine hand painted lace garlands in grey, with gilded highlights, all on a crisp white base. In perfect original antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify. The colours and gilding remain clear and vibrant, showing no wear. Dimensions: Milk jug stands 7.5 cm tall and 11.5 cm across from tip of spout to outer edge of handle.Sugar bowl stands 6 cm tall and 12 cm diameter. Kiln specks, small glaze faults, paint smudges, variations & faults and crazing are common with pieces from this period given aging and the intensely manual processes and technology available. The under side of both pieces bear the Cauldon England back stamp in puce; and hand written pattern number and painter's marks. I have listed 2 identical serving plates and 8 coffee demitasse trios in this pattern separately. Ref: 1221
