Description: Beautiful Glass Plate Negative(s)c.1890s - from West Virginia Well-Dressed ManTweed Jacket and Bowtie Glass Plate Size approx. 3.25" x 4.25" Amateur Photography The glass plate negative in this listing (or negatives, depending on the lot) are part of an estate collection that came in various original period plate boxes (such as the three pictured -- which are not included with this sale). The references in pencil on the back of the boxes suggest that the subjects being photographed were all from a 15-mile radius within West Virginia: Wolfcreek, Sydenstricker, Pence Springs, White Sul[phur] Springs, and Blue Sul[phur Springs].I am listing more glass negatives from this same West Virginia estate ... as well as some other lots from the same period that are British. I can combine shipping provided you do not pay until you contact me to request a combined shipping invoice. To see everything I still have available, just search eBay for: glass negatives smtPlease note: These lots are glass negatives. The positive images you see in the listings are a computer-generated inversion of the same negative image, just so you can see what is pictured. Condition: The glass plates in all of these lots are sound. The quality of exposure is amateur -- not professional. For example, some may be overexposed or underexposed, not perfectly focused, or the subject may have moved during the exposure. Please look closely at all pictures. The emulsion is not always perfect. There will be minor small nicks or scratches on the emulsion from 120+ years of storage and handling, and occasionally some missing emulsion near the edge. Also, some have a bad spot in the emulsion from the developing process. Some of the plates from this estate may have fingerprints around the edge from handling. The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up. PLEASE SUPERSIZE ALL PHOTOS, AND ASK ALL QUESTIONS BEFORE BIDDING/BUYING. I'LL BE GLAD TO ANSWER.Please be aware -- as with ALL antique and vintage paintings, prints, and other framed items -- that there is a potential (though unlikely) that the original paint on the frame may contain lead compounds, and (even MORE unlikely, though possible) asbestos-related materials. If this is a concern, one option is that you can apply a clear matte sealer over it so nobody comes in direct contact with the original paint.
