AN EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL FULLY WORKING FRENCH POINCON MARKED CIRCA 1900-1910 SOLID 14 CARAT GOLD (TESTED) SOUGHT AFTER FABULOUSLY DECORATED STUNNINGLY CRAFTED POCKET WATCH. THESE NOVELTY POCKET WATCHES WERE SOMETHING A GENTLEMAN WOULD KEEP HIDDEN UNTIL HE WAS IN THE COMPANY OF OTHER GENTLEMEN AND HE WOULD THEN PRODUCE IT TO SHOW HIS FRIENDS TO ENTERTAIN THEM. THIS WATCH HAS BEEN FULLY OVERHAULED BY MY MASTER WATCHMAKER. IT HAS BEEN STRIPPED DOWN TO ITS COMPONENT PARTS, FULLY CLEANED, OILED RE-ASSEMBLED AND TIMED. CASE: The 2 piece case to this beautiful watch is solid 14 carat gold AND is ‘arch’ shaped which is very unusual and rare. It also has a beautiful matching geometrical ‘arch’ pattern hand engraved design to both sides of the case back with a central Criss cross pattern to the centre, which is in beautiful condition. I can see NO dents to the case. I have gently polished the case, and it is shining wonderfully, as only hi grade SOLID GOLD can. THE WATCH MEASURES approximately 4.9CMS (49MM) IN DIAMETER at its widest point, excluding the chain ring and crown. The inside of the back cover and the chain ring are French Poincon marked for solid 14k gold and has also been tested as such. DIAL: This lovely collectible watch has the most fantastic STUNNING original hand painted beautiful automaton dial. The dial is signed by the artist (DOUHIR)?. It has no makers name and is in excellent condition with no hairlines or damage. It has beautiful sharp and crisp hand painted Arabic black painted numerals which are enclosed in a white oval background. The scene is in near perfect condition (See photos) Everything is crisp and clear with no apparent wear. The crystal is plexi and is lightly used. The beautiful spade design hands are golden steel and are in excellent condition. MOVEMENT: This is a lovely condition HIGH QUALITY Swiss made unsigned/named crown wind and set gilded, jewelled lever movement. It has nice steel screws. The watch has been fully overhauled and serviced by my watch maker and is in beautiful condition. It winds and sets as it should. The watch has run well over a 24 hour period and is keeping time to within approximately 1 minute per day. The crown is gold in color and is in excellent condition. The chain ring looks to be solid gold and is in excellent condition. THIS IS A FANTASTIC BEAUTIFULLY HAND MADE VERY RARE THEMED TIMEPIECE. Please remember that vintage watches have survived for many decades by being treated well. Vintage watches are not for wearing while doing yard work, working out, or swimming. Vintage watches cannot keep time like their quartz cousins and will need altering on average between +-2 to +-5 mins per day. They are a little more destructible than modern watches. Vintage watches also require periodic service and cleaning. Every couple of years, they would like their 20,000 mile checkup, oil change, and general service. By taking care of your vintage watch, you will have years of great service, and a quality heirloom to pass to another generation.
