Preble was at Camp Dick - Dallas, Texas from February 16, 1918 to April 12, 1918. He received flight training at Rich Field - Waco, Texas from April 1918 to July 26, 1918. He later became a test pilot at Wilbur Wright Test Field Fairfield, Ohio in August 1918 to early 1919. His aviator rating was RMA (MA) SC.
