Description: This trade token (face value: 5¢) is from the business of John J. Hanratty, who had both a saloon and a tobacco shop in Clarksville, Tennessee, in the early 1900s. [NOTE: Hanratty died in 1934.] The obverse names Hanratty and has a large number '3' - and the reverse has the words GOOD FOR 5¢ IN TRADE. The diameter is approximately 21 mm (nearly 7/8"), and the composition is brass. [8742Z] This token is in extremely fine condition, with fairly light actual wear, toning, and some soiling, and it is bright.
