Description: Cabinet Card, Boy with Decorated Bicycle, by photographer, J. W. Thompson, England, UK, c.1900. His studio was located at "7 1/2 Bargate and Skegness". The boy on the bike is not identified, but seems to be wearing a cape and a tri-corner hat (ala late 18th century). The bike is decorated all over, including wheels, with what looks like bunting and ivy, or some other plants. It is an exterior shot taken perhaps near a garden. The mounting card is a medium dark brown with a very small pebble finish. Printing is in gold ink (or gold leaf stamped) and the edge of the card is similarly gilded. The cabinet card is in very good condition. Issues include: Corners are intact, but 2 or 3 show slight bending and wear. Image is somewhat light and faded, but nice detail is there still. Back side has a mounting tape stain. Gilt lettering is weak but visible on the "J." initial of the photographer's name, and on the "ss" at the end of "Skegness". Be sure to check out my other items listed. I am regularly listing more such things. This is a no reserve auction. International shipping may require a bit more on the postage part.
