Description: This is a very nice mid century Metlox California bowl. Patient 120,872. This would be a nice bowl for a coffee table or end table. For an office it would make a statement piece on the desk with candy. Or you could make it for succulents. It is cream in color with a sea foam green interior. It’s approximately 11” wide and 2” high. There is no cracks or chips. It’s in very nice condition with little wear. Metlox Potteries of Manhattan Beach California operated between 1927 and 1989. An earlier iteration of the company was Proutyline Products Company, founded in 1921 in Hermosa Beach California. Architectural tile was made under the brand Hermosa Tile. The family had over 70 patents credited to them. In 1927 after selling their tile factory. They founded Metlox Manufacturing Company. The name Metlox comes from “metal oxide” a generic term for materials used in ceramics. They started a dinnerware line “poppy Trail” in 1934. Art ware lines started in 1938. In 1946 Willis prouty sold Metlox to Evan K. Shaw. Who created the very popular “Dessert Rose”. Dish-ware and gift wear .
