The blade is a very thick, nicely made 1045 Carbon Steel Blade with a steel brushed edge Hamon Line, full tang and very sharp. The brushed edge hamon line looks very nice and also makes fixing future scratches from sharpening and cutting very easy... simply brush them away without the need for heavy polishing. The handle is hickory with 2 mekugi pins covered in black and yellow leather cord tied battle wrap style with 2 dragon menuki wrapped in. The decorations include nicely painted gold leaves on the Saya and a small simple black Sageo Wrap. The Tsuba is gold and silver Royal Moths in a circular pattern from wing to wing. The Handle Caps depict farmers and fireflies. Comes with the nice sword bag shown in the pics. Proudly made by Jesse at Karbon Steele. There are lots of How-To videos online or YouTube for maintenance and sharpening; just need a kit or some mineral oil and soft cloths, whetstone or accusharp sharpener, and liquid polish or sand paper for polishing. Flitz Polish is good for shining and removing minor scratches and rust, but wet sanding may be needed for deep scratches and big rust spots. Any leather wrap should be occasionally treated to prevent drying and cracking, the blade needs to be occasionally cleaned with mineral oil to prevent rusting... especially after use or sharpening.
