Cesare Valletti was an Italian operatic tenor, one of the leading tenore di grazia of the postwar era. He made his debut as Alfredo in La traviata in 1947. In 1950 he sang opposite Maria Callas in Il turco in Italia, and in the same year made his debut in La Scala in Milan. He made his American debut in 1953. He later partnered with Maria Callas again in La Scala and Covent Garden. In the 1960s he returned to Italy, and became a highly respected recitalist.
