Description: Here is beautiful classic mineral specimen from Germany. This is a specimen with calcite crystals, over crusted by shiny chalcopyrite crystals. this is a classic but unusual combination from Schlema-Hartenstein, in the German Erzgebirge, in Saxony, Germany. This old German mining area produced Silver and Uranium, but also a host of other mineral species, like native Bimuth and Skutterudite, silver minerals, etc. Of course, also more common ore sulfide mineral species were found, and occasionally Carbonate minerals in the veins. This specimen is in great condition, has two older labels, plus some stickers/labels on the specimen itself. It almost looks like it was part of a historic collection related to this locality. The label also mentions the minerals, or varieties, Chathamite(variety of Cloanthite, which is a Nickel bearing mineral) and Freboldite(a member of the Nickeline group). I think these minerals consist of the vein below the Calcite crystals, and are the grey looking ore mineral in the matrix. Just a lovely specimen with history. This specimen is 468 grams, or 1 lb and 1 oz. The size is about 4inch x 3inch x 3 inch. Please be advised, I ship with Parcel Select.
