Description: Most people know of the Challis family for their production of unique hex format 1911 grip bushings. They have historically made grips from time-to-time utilizing some of the best and hard to find hardwoods, mastodon fossilized ivory, and other exotic materials. In my opinion, they are one of the premier grip makers in the country. I had these grips made in late 2019 from some of the most beautifully figured Desert Ironwood Burl I’ve ever seen. In addition, the bores for the screws have been inlaid with Ebony. They fit standard full frame 1911 platform pistols, utilize a flat beveled bottom with the mainspring housing pin covered and a magazine release thumb notch. Condition is as new including the trademark Challis leather bag. They have been test mounted on a couple 1911 frames, but have never been used for live fire, and never carried.
