A couple of gatherings were opened roughly, tearing the page edge, otherwise this is a fine, bright copy with a touch of fading at the top of the spine where the dust jacket is chipped, losing the first word of the title. The jacket also has some dampstaining to the spine and back panel. The jacket has a mounted color illustration on the front panel and a list of titles in the series on the back panel. The "latest addition to the series" is Captain Marryat's Children of the New Forest, from 1927, making this a later issue jacket. The jacket might be married to the book, but if it was, that happened a long time ago, as their is slight fading to the book spine that matches the chipping to the jacket. In any case, this is a hard book to find in a period jacket and with the cloth and tipped on paper cover design so bright.
