Description: Southwestern painting of a New Mexico landscape with the Taos Mountains on the horizon. By 20th c. American artist Charles S. Rawles (1871-1932).Biography from askart: A high school teacher and artist, Charles Rawles was born in New Jersey about 1871 and by 1920 was living in Capitan, Lincoln County, New Mexico, and by 1930 was living in Santa Fe. He married Ninetta Partch in Detroit, Michigan but was widowed from her. His work is in the Museum of New Mexico, Santa and the Santa Fe Public Library. He exhibited three New Mexico themed painting in 1921 at the Museum of New Mexico.Oil on board.Signed Chas. S. Rawles.Measures 18" x 24".Framed size Very good condition.
