Description: Offered here is a hand carved stone effigy of Sun Wukong the Monkey King, from the Chinese traditional 16th century epic, "Journey to the West. I believe the material is chrysoprase, but I'm not 100% certain. This piece is unsigned, and I am unable to conclusively tie it to a specific time period. It looks to be vintage, at least, but beyond this I cannot be certain of its exact age or place of manufacture. It does appear to be Chinese made, however, based solely on style and material. Condition: Overall good condition for age. There is a very small chip near the corner/edge of the base, which seems to have affected a small piece of the brown-toned portion of the stone.
