Matted with Chuck Jones' Production Official Stamp & COA, Acquired From a Large Private Collection & Hundreds of Chuck Jones Cel WorksMatte is 20" W x 16" H, Visible Cel area is Approx 11.75" W x 9.75" H Note: We could find another Sea Vitch that has ever sold on eBay, or other auctions sites going back 25+ years. We cannot say that there have not been any with 100% certainty, but we sure could not locate any. We are pricing this cel slightly above some of our other cels due to its scarcity and pristine condition. We will be listing many other original cels from the same film & some other characters in the coming days. This sharp hand painted Original Animation Production Cel from Chuck Jones Productions depicts "Sea Vitch" the Walrus voiced by Roddy McDowall from the made for TV film "The White Seal" released in 1975 with story & art from Chuck Jones as adapted from Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book". This is a very nice face cel of Sea Vitch. Sea Vitch the walrus was in the film for a little over a minute and instructed Kotick where to find the "Sea Cow" who would know where there was a safe place for seals during the hunting season. Sea Vitch told Kotick to find Sea Cow he had to find someone uglier that himself (Sea Vitch), kind of a cute scene. The artwork is sharp, bold & clear. Photo 7 in gallery kind of shows the outer pen lines and almost 3-D feel to these cels. The paint of course is on underside of cels as applied by skilled animation artists. This size is called a twelve field cel for it's approx 12" x 10" (or 12.5" x 10.5") size from our research. The film is a true classic by Chuck Jones was made as one of three made for TV films by Jones from "The Jungle Book". "Rikki Tikki Tavi" 1975 & "Mowgli's Brothers" 1976 were the other two features. We have cels listed or to be listed from those films as well. These authentic cels are getting tougher to find as time goes by due to growing collector interest in this collecting genre & hobby & each piece is of course "one of a kind". The cel is in near mint+ condition and one of the best we have seen. We really could not see any blips, scratches or other unless they are very tiny. No staining, tears or other. Please review all pictures taken to assist you with determining condition & use zoom feature if needed, but it looks terrific & would be even better in a protective frame. The background color is the matting board, it is not a cel's layer. We made no attempts to clean or alter the cel. This is matted & suitable for framing if you choose. If you decide to buy more than one of our listed cels by Chuck Jones, let us know and we may offer a discount on multi item purchase. Auctioned items of course are different, but if you win an auction and then decide to buy another, let us know. The collector we acquired this work from had literally hundreds of rare production cel pieces from various works by Jones, many in consecutive series, which we have personally not seen much outside of a studio sale 20 years ago perhaps. This has a Chuck Jones Ent mark on lower left of cel & a the COA Paper that came with this when purchased was attached to the back of cel upside down, we flipped for pictures. Chuck Jones (Sept 21, 1912 - Feb 22, 2002) is among the elite of the elite cartoon artists & film innovators in history. If you are looking at this listing, you likely already know this. In his extensive career he created such characters as the Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Pepe LePew, & Marvin the Martian (and others) as well as helping refine the characters of Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Porky Pig & more along the way. Each of these hand painted cels are from an animation artist's hand & a part of cartoon film history. We feel the collecting of Authentic Animation Art is truly one of the neatest collectible genres. Not only do you get a piece of a gifted artist's work, each piece is part of a living history of the movies and films they were used in & they make exceptional display items. It's a bit like owning a World Series game used bat from a baseball player, at least we feel that way. But in this case the World Series never ends as the cartoons keep playing and playing. We have dozens of these original Chuck Jones Animation Cels coming to market in next few weeks. We will sell some in bundles or series & others as individual pieces, but all will offer something special. We even have many in small sequences (running production numbers), extremely hard to find. We have Bugs Bunny, Tucker the Mouse, Wile E Coyote & many characters from Rikki Tikki Tavi, A Cricket in King Arthur's Court, White Seal, Carnival of Animals & more. Please Note: There may be some image reflection & distortion present in pictures as the cels are plastic (or acetate) & reflective of course. (In some cases, we may photograph artwork in different light settings to try and capture a painting, sculpture or other artwork's look in different settings. Therefore there may be some variations in color from one picture to another. The photos are not altered, but may have been photographed in a brighter room, with natural light, a flash feature or other. Also, we try to note any visible defects we can see but there may be wear or imperfections we miss. Please view all pictures taken for your consideration and use zoom feature if needed. Likewise, you can always notify us with questions.) Please Read: See our Feedback & Buy with confidence. We ship with extreme care and all items are fully insured! We often take from 30-90 minutes packing more delicate & odd sized items to make sure your treasure is protected. We also photograph most items above $100 while packing in case a shipper were to ever damage an item (only 1 time in over 2,000 US shipped sales). For this reason, if an item is ever damaged, it will be the Buyer's responsibility to file a claim with the shipping service and we can provide photos from packing to assist Buyers. The process is not difficult, but the timing of such does not allow adequate time for the item to be returned to us and then for us to proceed with a claim (chain of custody questions can arise as well on returned items due to double shipping and handling so it is just easier for Buyers). So again, as noted in listing, we do not offer returns. Sales tax is charged according to your state or country's regulations. Of course, there is free local pick up and we can meet to assist if you are near Indianapolis or driving through. We do this often. We require signature confirmation your item if it is above $100, so plan accordingly. We can send without signature confirmation if you request, but if item is marked delivered, but comes up missing, buyer would assume all responsibility for loss, as insurance will not cover items without signature confirmation. Also, FedEx & Others are beginning to require signature on items above $500-$700. Also, we have discounts with FedEx & eBay on shipping which do not always show up in eBay estimates on shipping. We try to refund what we can when there is a notable difference, but we do not know until we actually process the shipping order.
