An original Pair of Civil War era CDV photos 1) A Bust view of Anna Fitzhugh Smith, circa early 1860s, wearing an embroidered hood, reverse w backmark of photographer Powelson of Rochester & Buffalo, NY, and 2) A full seated full view CDV photo of her son Green Smith copied from a daguerreotype of him as a small boy, circa 1840s- he is wearing dress and pantaloons often worn by small boys of wealthy families of the era. Green Smith, born 1842 served 2 years in the Civil War as an officer with the 14th New York Heavy Artillery 1864-65 including the Battles at Petersburg. Postwar he became a noted Professor of Ornithology at Cornell University and was also active in support of women's suffrage- Angelina Grimke was his patron.
