Description: CLARA LAUGHLIN HAMILTON (INDIANA) VTG SIGNED ORIG OIL PAINTING WINTER LANDSCAPE Clara Laughlin Hamilton (1872-1968) was born in Belle Center, Ohio. She studied at the Cleveland School of Art with Frederick Gottwald (1858-1941) and in Indiana with William Forsyth (1854-1935) and Randolph Lasalle Coats (1891-1957), himself a student of Forsyth. Hamilton lived in Kokomo, Indiana, with her husband, a noted medical doctor in town. The original oil on board painting offered here is a lovely example of Hamilton’s Indiana landscape work that depicts winter landscape with a traditional red barn and towering oak trees in a snow-covered field. The painting is signed in the lower right and is framed in a carved and beveled giltwood frame. Unframed, the painting measures 16” x 20” and the overall framed dimensions measure 21.5” x 25.5”. While there are some scuffs and scrapes on the frame, the painting itself is in very good original condition, with no signs of painting loss or overpainting. This is a beautiful painting by a listed Indiana artist that would make a wonderful addition to any collection. Top of Form Bottom of Form
